FOUNDATION SOLUTION

Project Management and Construction Services at the University of Texas at Austin contracted with structural engineer, Clayton Yarbrough of CDY Engineers in Buda, TX to come up with a solution to the Garner home foundation problems. Due to the size and construction of the Garner home the solution is a multi-phase process of the addition of a continuous concrete beam, helical piers, footer excavation, and a French Drain system.

Following excavation of the dirt around the building, steel reinforcement was added to the existing stem wall and appoxied in place. The three photos below show the progression of the beam construction from drilling into the stem walls, constructing the steel frame, and the completed steel grid work. Next comes the forms for the concrete beam.
